I just want to share a post that i think really worth shared. This post is about musical instruments that the Timugons used during festivities (Marriage, family gathering, engagements and even in the occasion of death). You can check out of what theTimugons is all about in my previous post here. Gong for the Timugon (Murut) can be in two different terms ‘titikas’ (for a cheerful/happy occasion) and ‘riwau’ (commonly used during death).

As Christmas time comes nearer, we dig our old cds collection looking for the good old christmas songs. Numbers from Boney M (Mary’s Boy Child, Feliz Navidad, Joy to the world…) really got you back in time, remembering all the Christmases that pass us by each and every year.

Since Christmas is only once a year, singing along each track word by word seems impossible to me. The fun of getting the moods of christmas, got stuck because i just forgot the wordings. Most likely we only remember the verses and choruses of all the typical christmas songs, but when the rest of the lyric comes about, we just ‘hum’ it along, and that’s when the fun ends.

Thanks to the Internet, I manage to google a few websites that offer no fancy things but a pure joy of christmas songs’ lyrics. To save your time googling around, i’ve listed a few here that will serve you best…

SMK Tenom New Wave

My brother texted me to check this band out. This ‘will make you dizzy video’ was taken during SMK Tenom Battle of The Band. The winner of this competition grabbed by a band called Jamming Face Junk. I remember during my time in SMK Tenom, BOTB was unheard of. The school was pretty boring and dull.. But now, the school openess to organize such thing is a two thumbs up. Cikgu2 sekolah yg sporting dulu ada 2, 3 orang ja. Sekarang i can say ‘waisehmenn’. Go SMK Tenom!

The singer of this band is actually my little brother. Judging by the way they played and interact they still have loads of stuff to learn. But at 16 you’ll learn a lot.. congrats to the winner. The song ‘takut’ is their own composition.
