Make Money With Twitter, How Hard Can It Be?

If you read my blog, you may have stumbled upon my older post of my attempt to make money with Twitter. After 3 months of tweeting Revtwt ads in my tweet, I earned a mere $0.16 with only 3 invalid recorded clicks. I published revtwt ads twice daily almost for every single day!.

I don’t actually know how revtwt’s audit system works, but the figure is just infuriating. Revtwt pays through pay-per-click, but that is not what actually happened. I’ll tell you why…

Since I cannot personally track the performance of the tweeted ads, I do my own research. Hell yeah! I deserved to know if my revtwt ads clicked or not. So, I’ve posted the same ads with different twitter client. After posting the ads from the revtwt site, I copied the same ads and posted it with hootsuite and change the url with one provided by hootsuite to track its performance. In less than 10 minutes I received more than 10 clicks. For that, I plunk em hard!

But making money online is all about trial and error. Am I correct? One of my readers suggested me with another Twitter advertising program that seems to be promising. Even John Chow made 1000USD only from a single tweet! . I signed up from this Twitter ads network few weeks after revtwt and already made a few bucks.

This is the thing, usually, the more followers and “celebrity” status you have, the more you can charge. For me, sticking to the suggested price is good enuff.

Clickers Are More Likely to Click – Reports from Chitika Ads Network

Sharing reports from Chitika of WHY click based advertising from SEO (google, Yahoo) is worth your time.

MARLBOROUGH, 11/25/2009 – People who search by clicking the button on Google’s homepage are fifty percent more likely to go on to click an ad than people who search by any other Google means, according to online ad network Chitika.

The study, which looked at just over 11 million impressions, shines a light on the possibility and importance of being able to predict web users’ activity.

When comparing the different types of traffic that come through their advertising network, the researchers at Chitika compared the different types of Google traffic – people who click on the “Google Search” button, people who search by hitting the enter key, people who search from browser toolbars, etc.

While the overall clickthrough rate for the entire Google-searching sample was 0.95%, the people who searched by clicking on the search button at Google.com clicked ads at a 1.56% rate, over half again higher.

But the question becomes, why such a high disparity? Why are people who type in their query and hit enter so much less likely to click on an ad than someone who performs a search differently through the same website?

“Sophistication is my guess,” says Rand Fishkin, SEO guru and CEO of SEOMoz.org. ”Hitting enter means you’re not moving your hands away from the keyboard and likely indicates a more tech-savvy (and hence, click-sensitive) individual.”

So it appears that advertising click rates are inversely proportional to the “tech-savviness” of the people receiving the ads. By defining a user’s tech-savviness, it’s possible that ad networks going forward will be able to target better and better, driving revenue for websites while showing less ads.

Nikon FM10 35mm SLR Camera For Sale!

Worn throughout the university days and currently collecting dust under the table, i’ve decided to sell this SLR.

Bought in year 2000, this baby is the main reason my wife passed her Bachelor in Multimedia in 2003. I will sell it together with all the additional kits that come together with the SLR. (See attached pictures for visual info)

I don’t know if product support still available, but according to wikipedia article, it’s the only film-based SLR camera together with the F6 model to remain in production. Read the review here from photographyreview.com

P1 Wimax Potong Commercial Banned?!

The ‘Potong’ TV ads from P1 Wimax is indeed a funny ads and create a new hype in TV commercial. It was discussed in Parliament recently because some of the MPs feel that the commercial contain a ‘mixed message’ which are misleading.

The word ‘potong’ has been repeated over and over again for the commercial. For most people, “potong” hints at the act (of circumcision).

But, when commercial ads already on TV, it means that it’s already approved by Film Censorship Board under the Home Ministry. The parliament asked the MCMC to evaluate the content to determine whether it violates the content code stipulated by the MCMC and they want the commercial to be cut. (Cut = Potong) )

Personally for me, P1 Wimax first commercial is really good at drawing attention and the commercial can be considered as successful. Then again they should consider other aspect of human nature. I hope the title for this post is not misleading because by the time of posting, the commercial still runs on TV.

So, for those in the Borneo, JANGAN “POTONG” DULU! Sebab, P1 Wimax is currently available in the Peninsular only. Its a big NO for deConnexion!

I signed up with Revtwt recently. Rvtwt is an advertising program that turns short status messages into a profit making tool. To use Revtwt is super easy, you just need to choose which ads you want to tweet and hope that somebody will click it, in order for you to get commissions.

As a regular member, I can only tweet two ads daily. And most advertisers have a specific target for countries that will make the click valid. If the ads are meant for US resident, clicks from Spain for instance, will not count.
