Borneo InterHash & Monkey Pot Rice

The Borneo InterHash 2010 is ‘on on’ to Borobudur, Java and here is what i manage to snap during the event at The Bawang Route with my Nikon D90. I’m on my learning mode and itching to press the shutter button. We also took the advantage to sell some local dish known as ‘Monkey Pot Rice’. Glutinous rice cooked in a Monkey Pot flower, and the Chicken Bamboo sold out at halftime.

Monkey Pot Rice, best served with Chicken Bamboo. Have you tried some?

The actual monkey pot plant. In some countries this type of plant is considered as an endangered species and preserved to protect its existence. But im not sure, speaking of which, family of  the endangered one fall into. Pls ask mr.Google

Here goes… Hasher from Indonesia. A very nice lady

Stacks of Borobudur temporary tattoo by tattoofun and pictured below is Echie with the tattoo. That’s about it, uploading picture is somewhat tiring and i’m signing out here. On on Borobudur, come again to Kuching!

If you stumble here somewhere from the planet, looking for information about InterHash this link might help you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interhash. Its an updated information about the run. You can also have a sneak peak of past and future InterHash run. Javis, thanks for sharing your photos! I enjoy looking at other people's pictures to see what I didn't see or what I'd missed.
Somehow, picture nos.6 and 7 are not showing; did you remove them?

Note: it would be helpful for English-only readers if you also include the English translation of “pemabuk kelas berat” in your text, something like “heavy-weight boozer”.

No, I have not had Monkey Pot Rice, and neither bamboo chicken; I'd like to try them both the next time I go to Serawak, if I can find them. Can I find them at the local markets?
I'm curious: does the Monkey Pot plant impart a certain flavor to the rice, like putting pandan leaves in the rice when cooking it?

Hello sir, glad you found this post.
actually i have loads of pictures not included here as my internet connection is pain in the 'a*se! picture no 6,7 showing fine in my side. not sure what is the problem tho'

yes pemabuk kelas berat = Heavyweight boozer. do you in any chance know the guy in the pic? :) .

For the monkey pot rice you can always find them in sarawak, if you comin in next time to sarawak, drop a note here so i can prepare the dish for u. :) . for your last question, i need to ask my mother-in-law about that, shes the one who made all the dish. but pandan leaves have strong flavour, im sure it will have an echo.
